Windows 7 is being released on October 22, 2009.  If you’re the early adopter type who can’t wait to get your hands on the new OS, but haven’t played around with any of the betas or release candidates, Lifehacker has put together a guide for easing the transition.  Follow the jump to see what awaits you during your Windows 7 upgrade experience.

If you’re jumping into Windows 7 for the first time this Thursday, or soon after, you won’t find yourself facing an entirely new-looking, strange-acting Windows. Most of Windows 7’s features are refinements, tweaks, and speed-ups from Vista.
