Windows 7 search can now OCR TIFF images on its own

From ARS Technica:
”The indexing service that powers Windows search can now perform OCR of TIFF images. Though not enabled by default (due to resource usage constraints), installing it gives full-text searching of TIFFs. Scanned documents and faxes are the main target for this capability.”

See the Microsoft TechNet page for installation info.

Discovery in the information age involves a staggering volume of electronic data. Even paper documents, once making up the bulk of discovery materials and filling banker’s boxes in offices, are now typically scanned into scales_out_of_balanceformats that allow associates and contract attorneys to annotate, and tag documents. By utilizing e-Discovery specialists and contract attorneys, you can save your clients’ time and resources, while maintaining the same level of oversight and accountability.

You can either struggle with managing the e-Discovery process and the technical details of gathering and culling data, selecting vendors, developing databases, managing contract review attorney’s, overseeing systems and project management tasks, preserving defensible records, etc., OR you can partner with a vendor who will work with you in managing these aspects of your matter.

The weather outside is delightful and you’re stuck in a climate-controlled server room.  Instead of birds chirping, you hear the steady whine of fans cooling overworked CPU’s.  golfballYour friends and famiy are out enjoying a relaxing Saturday afternoon, but you’re feeling the pinch of being understaffed and overwhelmed.  Wouldn’t you rather be relaxing with them?  Or do you prefer working in isolation under high-pressure?

Our technicians are on call 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.  As an nSourceIT customer, you can rest assured that you’re systems are covered.  We’re monitoring your servers even when you’re out enjoying the weather.  And if you need new systems deployed, then we’ll work during non-business hours to minimize impact to your end-users.   If something goes down and we can’t remedy the situation remotely, then we’ll be on-site in hardly no time at all.  You don’t have to worry about cost overruns for this level of service or time-and-a-half billing, our monthly fee covers off-hours assistance.

You can finally relax during the weekend.  How long has it been since you’ve enjoyed a vacation, anyway?
